Jim Schwartz has heart

Sadly, the Detroit Lions lost on Sunday at Ford Field to the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 25-19. Like every other game the coaches shake hands at the end congratulating the winner. Jim Harbaugh, who is the 49ers coach, decided to shake Schwartz hand and give him a hard slap on the back. This is something you must see on video.

Schwartz took this to heart and confronted Harbaugh on his child like actions. Schwartz first gave him a dirty look then went over to Harbaugh to give him his two cents on his stupid immature actions. Schwartz was quoted saying the whole hand shake was a surprise to him since it was the end of the game and it was over.

The cool part to me is Schwartz started to chase Harbaugh as he tried to leave the field and go into the locker room. Schwartz doesn’t like being disrespected and that is setting a good example for his team. The only bad thing about this is Schwartz is going to have to sit his team down and explain to them that you cannot let your emotions get the best of you.

At the post-game press conferences, Harbaugh took all the blame for the incident. He acknowledges he slapped Schwartz too hard on the back and that it was disrespectful and he was just caught up in the moment of beating the Detroit Lions. It feels awesome to say, someone was actually that excited to beat the Detroit Lions. That is when you know the Lions are on the right track.

Overall the Detroit Lions played a decent game and they are making the right steps into becoming an elite NFL team. Hopefully this helps the Lions snap to reality so they can start preparing for the long run.

Detroit Tigers in a tough position

The American League Championship Series is underway and the Detroit Tigers are already one game down. For the Detroit Tigers to stay competitive in this series the pitching is going to have to be lights out. Delmon Young is out with an oblique injury while Magglio Ordonez is out with a broken ankle.

This is really bad news for Magglio Ordonez and will probably end his career in Major League Baseball. He previously broke the same ankle last season. He started experiencing pains during the rain delay of the first game of the American League Championship series. If the Detroit Tigers do happen to make the World Series Magglio will not be able to play but Delmon Young may.

The Detroit Tigers now have the opportunity to decide on a replacement on their American League Championship Series roster now that Ordonez is put on the DL. The Detroit Tigers have many options for this open roster spot. Speculations are that Brennan Boesch, who suffered a thumb injury, may come and do some pinch hitting duties. There are also various MLB reporters saying Clete Thomas and Will Rhymes, who were Triple A minor league players for the Detroit Tigers may also get the call for the open roster spot. If I had to choose between Clete Thomas and Will Rhymes I would choose Thomas because they are going to need a power hitter to make up for these losses.

Brennan Boesch would be the logical option in my opinion if he can get cleared to play. I read that he hasn’t swung a bat since the surgery on his thumb but I would still choose him over a minor league player that had little to no relations with the team the entire season. Even if Boesch is not ready for this series I would really like to see him in the World Series getting at least a few at bats. I also would like to Carlos Guillen get a shot for the World Series roster to.

Once in a Lifetime

This is by far the best time span to be a Michigan sport's fan since I've been alive. The Detroit Tigers are in the playoffs and the Detroit Lions are 4-0.

The Detroit Lions came back in the third quarter this weekend being down 27-3. I feel like this Detroit Lion team needs to get their heads together for the start of the game, and come out of the gun just like how they finished this game. They still won so I am happy with doing whatever they have to do, to get the win. Calvin Johnson is a beast. He is a huge threat to any team in this league. The play of the game may be the lobbed pass to Calvin in the back of the end zone where he was being covered by three Cowboy players where he went up and caught it. Next week the Lions play on Monday Night Football. This is the first time I've ever seen the Lions play on national television. I hope they play to their full abilities and start the game off just like they ended Sunday's game. Should be very interesting.

The Detroit Tigers have evened the first to three wins playoff series to an even 1-1. The next two games are at home which gives them a huge advantage. Max Scherzer threw very well and posted a no hitter until the 7th inning in Game 2. That is pure domination. Tonight the Detroit Tigers have ace, Justin Verlander, pitching against the Yankees C.C. Sabathia. I feel confident in Verlander and I hope he has his best stuff. It would be awesome to be up 2 games to 1. Rick Porcello will pitch game 4 either way and it would be awesome for him to pitch well and close the series out. That would be a huge motivation for Tigers fans and Porcello himself.
